My definition of poetry: undefined. You wanted a metaphor? Look at the title. Whoops, I accidentally used some capitals there, and the punctuation's proper period. Did you see that alliteration? I 'll even give you some amplification. Did you see that rhythm in rhyme? Let me elaborate; go on a bit to explain myself, so you can understand my views. Infinity Perhaps

Our galaxy has long been thought to make us small, and to watch the stars is to fixate on the past. Perhaps we belittle ourselves when we put our hopes in the far away and long ago. But if the universe indeed goes on and on, perhaps we're bigger too: expanded by a smaller infinity of versions of us who know better than to shrink the universe to fit the limits of our comprehension. imagine trees of tangerines, heavy sagging suns on all the branches. rip one down, introduce it to vivisection (though dead or alive, it never cries out), and squeeze until pulp like entrails forces itself between your dripping fingers. stare blankly at the mess and attempt to clean it, succeed only in staining your clothes golden. work the designs against your skin until the mistakes become tattoos and the rinds before you look less like refuse and more like fresh-hatched eggshells. as the morning scent stings your senses, reach up. don't look, just touch, and rip down another. and another. and another.

Orginally for a creative process course I'm taking in Uni, not going to use this in my portfolio though; so here you go, you idiots.

Nice poetry. The universe...
I like the way you use a black marker and cover everything up, except those words which you're using them and making a poetry sentences.

Hmm the poetry, I think? It means to be yourself. Every though there is good and bad. For the laws and rules. The universe was created. It cannot be destroyed or controlled.
